Think You’ve Got What it Takes to be a Wedding/Event Planner?

How-To's | Masterposts | Guides

No, seriously… do you have the personality for it? Let’s be real, in this industry you’re going to be handling some of the most important events that people center their calendar years and even entire lives around. As if that isn’t stressful enough, throw in the colorful personalities and even more colorful obstacles that will be catapulted 100 miles an hour at you, and you need to be the picture of cool, calm and collected. Literally. If you’re just starting out and are looking to gain insight into the industry, do a little introspection first and see if you meet the criteria to be a successful event and wedding planner:
1. Be Organized
I feel like this should really go without explaining, but this is essentially the whole reason why people hire wedding and event planners in the first place! We know exactly how to handle an immeasurable amount of detail and information and organize it into a successful event. Being organized is at the height of most important qualities to have in order to do well in this industry; say it with me: “Lists and sublists are my friends.” You’re going to be juggling time-sensitive information from multiple clients, and everyone has their own system they eventually figure out works best for them, but what works well for me is writing everything down and making bullet-point lists breaking down my tasks into smaller, condensed projects that are easy to tackle.

Introducing Your New Wedding & Special Events Planning Blog!

About Me

My name is Chelsea, and I’m a Certified Wedding & Event Planner, as well as experienced bridal consultant, professional model, and lover of all things caffeinated and the color pink!
To give you a bit of background on me, I’m coming up on my first anniversary of having made the big move from my big West coast mountains and city lights to the small town simplicity and peace of the Midwest, and I am SO GLAD I did! I am still stuck in the gross newlywed phase with my husband, Kiel, and will frequently post pictures of the two of us and our cute little teddy bear of a pup, Bingley!
I obtained my worldwide-accredited Wedding and Event Planning certification through The North American Academy of Wedding and Event Planning (if you’re interested in a career in wedding and event planning, click the link to see if their courses and online degree program is right for you!).
I’m super excited to watch this blog grow as I grow in experience with all the upcoming events I am bound to be a part of! I’ll be making several posts, not only by documenting my planning adventures, but I will also be sharing my thoughts and insights on specific topics and discussions, as well as give you all some great go-to guides for your big days! If you have any questions or topics you’d like me to cover, feel free to reach out to me any time day or night; I guess being from a 24-hour city some old habits are going to die hard!
Best, Chelsea ✨
